Back on April 30th I competed in my first bodybuilding competition. I trained for about 15 weeks, had a pretty tough training schedule and a very rigid meal plan. As much as I enjoyed my training I was ready to eat just about anything other than fish when it came close to stage time. Luckily, I got to eat 3 rice cakes and peanut butter. I had been looking forward to that rice-cake moment all week. I know it sounds a little pathetic, but I was ready to shove those things down my throat faster than I could spread the peanut butter on them. As it turns out, that's exactly what I had to do. They were calling my class to get the suits glued and our bodies all shiny for the stage.
I'm sure I looked absolutely ridiculous as I shoved rice cake after rice cake in my mouth. What caught me up the most was the damn peanut butter getting stuck to the roof of my mouth. I turned on the master multi-tasker switch as I rushed to put on my heels (they were 5 inches..), kept shoving food in my mouth and got "glitzed and glued." It tasted so good, and I was so sad I didn't get to enjoy them. Once I finished my rice cakes, I looked around and I had made a complete mess. I had them on the floor, in my hair, stuck to random parts of my body, just about everywhere. (If you've ever eaten rice cakes, you know how it goes.) Nevertheless, I got ready in time, and all was well, but I wish I could have witnessed my ravenous rice cake rage.
